International Conference & Exhibition on Water Resources and Renewable Energy Development in Asia
 (ASIA 2010).

ASIA 2010 will take place on 29 and 30 March next year in Kuching, the capital of the Malaysian State of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. This event will be organized in collaboration with SARAWAK ENERGY.

Following the success of ASIA 2006 in Bangkok and ASIA 2008 in Danang, we expect about 800 participants this time, including high level delegations from countries in the Asia and Pacific region, as well as from Europe, Australasia and North America.

All issues and challenges of particular relevance to the Asian region will be discussed by international experts on technology, finance, economics and environmental/social issues. Organizations such as ICOLD, ICID, IEA, UNESCAP, the Mekong River Commission and the Asian Development Bank traditionally bring their expertise to the discussions.

A major technical exhibition will run alongside the conference, giving all the leading companies in the field of hydropower and multipurpose dam engineering the chance to display their products and services.
80 STANDS ARE AVAILABLE AND ALREADY MORE THAN 40 COMPANIES HAVE ALREADY RESERVED THEIR POSITION.
If you are planning to exhibit,  please reserve your position as soon as possible. The cost for a stand all set up of 6 sqm 2 including one free delegate registration is US$3000

A choice of two post-Conference technical study tours will include possibilities to visit the Batang Ai CFRD and 100 MW hydro plant, the 2400 MW Bakun scheme, which will be at the final stage of commissioning, and the site of the Murum RCC dam, currently under construction.

Finally, a full social programme is planned for all, offering all participants the opportunity for networking in a relaxed atmosphere, while experiencing the rich cultural traditions and fascinating flora and fauna of the island of Borneo.

Some details and background from our past event: Asia 2008, which took place in Danang, Vietnam in the spring 2008.

Every two years, Hydropower & Dams  also organizes regional events in Asia, bringing together around 500  international experts to focus on issues of specific relevance   to the Asia and Pacific   regions, where the greatest amount   of hydropower development is under way, and where   some of the greatest technical challenges lie. Discussions extend beyond hydropower, to renewable   energy systems of all kinds, and water infrastructure for water supply and irrigation. Typical topics on the agenda are: potential and plans for   water resources development; large scale projects, and   issues relating to challenging site conditions; rural electrification; sedimentation management; dam safety; floods and   earthquakes; environmental and social issues; marine energy prospects;0 and, power trading and pumped storage.
These events are strongly supported by the financing agencies and major water and energy related professional   associations such as ICOLD and ICID, as well as   UNESCAP.
